Salsify Seedhead with Raindrops - Best viewed in the largest size. I had processed this image during the day and then last night I read an article about eating salsify. It seems that every part is edible and can be used in many ways for cooking. I think next summer I might test that by eating the roots of one or two.

  • Scrub Jay
  • Eating Snow - I had not seen a squirrel do this previously.
  • Oriental Poppy

  • Rock Dove/Rock Pigeon
  • Greedy Raven
  • Squirrel in the Snowstorm - it is warmer today and the snow is melting.
  • It's Snowing! It was quite a pretty snowfall.
  • Raven with one of its eyelids over the eye. In other pics of him, the eye was as expected.
  • Deer in the Yard Next Door Last Summer - Byron is working in NM and does not have access to wifi, but he will be back in Montana before long.
  • Peony in My Garden Last Spring - I have posted two different versions and am curious to know what you think.
  • Peony with Coreopsis Last Spring - the same shot with the original bg and a painterly treatment. You can see the textures in the larger version.
  • Lupines - I have a lot of lupines in my garden in spring, most of which have self sown themselves everywhere; these are just a few of them last spring.
  • House Sparrow Having a Bath
  • House Sparrows Bathing in the Fountain
  • House Finch - Greg is still in the hospital and undergoing more tests as they try to find the source of his stomach bleeding.
  • Mourning Dove - Dratted wind!
  • Snow on the Mugho Pine - Phil and I are back home. He was diagnosed with heart failure. We will have to make some more changes to our diets and some other things, but we will cope. Thanks so much for all your good wishes for his health while we were at the hospital. It bolstered my spirits a lot! I hope Greg has weathered the cyclone in New Zealand, but the flooding and damage from the storm looks horrible in the news reports.
  • Recent Snow - Greg sent me a message saying he was back in the hospital and waiting for the cyclone that is due to hit them in NZ. I am taking my husband to the emergency room so I will comment when I can.

With all the raindrops it almost appears as a crystal chandelier. Beautiful capture, looking forward to hearing as to how the taste buds react to eating it.

Judy, This is a magnificent photo you captured of this seed head with all the tiny raindrops on it. This picture is tact-sharp too.

Beautiful capture with truly exquisite details in the raindrops, I will be really interested in your taste test, it's amazing how many of our plants are edible and beneficial.

(Actually I finally finished a book on my Prairie and included lots of details about the edible and medicinal plants. I think you can find it on Blurb, it's called My Prairie Companion, and I think you can view it all on the website.)

This is the prettiest seed head I've seen; the raindrops look like tiny crystals and bling! I like the inclusion of the sporadic, colorful flowers in the background, as well! To me, the buds resemble my grandmother's garden-grown okra, which many people think is a vegetable, although its actually a fruit!
