Dailies

These images are ones shot to post in the daily community on smugmug. I've been participating in this community for about twelve years. For the first few years, I tried to always post a shot taken either that day or the day before. Now, although I try to shoot everyday, I don't necessarily post the images on the same day they are shot.

Water drops on Fir Tree Needles

Day 10 - The sun is reflected in water droplets on fir tree needles; please look at this in the large size and you'll see the starbursts in all the water drops. I took this shot a couple of months ago when we had our first bout of hoarfrost. I dashed out the take photos, but the sun was melting the frost faster than I could capture it. I ended up spending about two hours taking photos of water drops all over the garden and yard. I remember being so excited that I forgot to get breakfast for my poor long-suffering hubby. You all posted a lot of great images today. I really enjoyed looking through them all. It is amazing how much talent is here on smugmug. I am constantly being inspired to try new things by all the creativity I see here. So, thanks, everyone for being SUCH an inspiration! Hope your day is lovely. I know Dave is getting buried in snow again in Seattle. I think we're all ready for winter to end.

  • Day 14 - This great blue heron's feathers are in the "threat detected" position. It is guarding its nest and has just seen another great blue heron approaching. Its eyes bug out and the feathers around the neck stand out. This bird is nesting in a huge sycamore in Sedona, AZ.
  • The early morning sun strikes trees and creates reflections of the mountain at Lost Lake Slough in Colorado. Must see in the largest sizes. I took this shot quite a long time ago but, for some reason never used it as a daily. As I was cleaning up the gallery the other day, I rediscovered it and decided I wanted to share it. Hope you like the light! I must admit, I has me quite entranced!<br />

  • Day 13 - The early morning sun strikes trees and creates reflections of the mountain at Lost Lake Slough in Colorado; I'm going to be taking care of my grandson all day today, so I've pulled this shot out of my "Lost Lake" gallery. Thanks to all of your for your comments on my images. I'm pretty new to the Dailies and I'm astounded by all the support from the incredibly talented photographers here on smugmug. I'm really grateful and I think I'm learning a lot from your comments on my shot and from looking at all the other fabulous photos that get posted and are in various galleries on the site. I've truly been overwhelmed! So, thanks!

  • Day 4 - I actually don't know what kind of flower this is. I shot it in the glass house at the Denver Botanical Gardens. I loved the little red stringy thing-ees. I'm on a trip with my hubby and tonight we are in Ft. Clark, Texas, where I've got the first internet wifi access I've had on this trip. We had a great week in Big Bend National Park and I got a lot of nice shots, which I'm anxious to upload. I don't know if this access is fast enough to actually let me upload some stuff but I'll try later this evening. Hope you all are having a great time and I'm sorry to be missing all the wonderful dailies from everyone. I'll try to comment a bit tonight if this access holds up. At any rate, have a wonderful time until I get online again!
