1. Daily shots for the dailies forum on Dgrin

Dailies

These images are ones shot to post in the daily community on smugmug. I've been participating in this community for about twelve years. For the first few years, I tried to always post a shot taken either that day or the day before. Now, although I try to shoot everyday, I don't necessarily post the images on the same day they are shot.

  • Day 57 - A cutaway of a vintage WWII aircraft turbocharger, photographed at the vintage aircraft museum in Pueblo, Colorado
  • Day 59 - A cutaway of a WWII vintage aircraft turbocharger; photographed at the vintage aircraft museum in Pueblo, Colorado.
  • Day 58 - I wanted to try something different with the straight shot of an antique recruiting poster from WWII. I applied a bunch of different effects in Photoshop, including blending modes (screen and difference), image adjustments (equalize and invert), filter (photocopy) and then faded each of the effects to get this sort of gritty, old effect.
  • Day 56 - An antique Underwood typewriter
  • Day 55 - A section of a vintage aircraft engine; this is another of the shots from last week's trip to the vintage aircraft museum in Pueblo, Colorado. They appear to operate on a shoestring budget but have a lot of interesting aircraft and other associated things.
  • Day 54 - The cockpit of a vintage T-37 aircraft; this was also taken on the trip to the vintage aircraft museum in Pueblo, Colorado.
  • Day 53 - parachute ropes, photographed a couple of weeks ago at the vintage aircraft museum in Pueblo, Colorado. I think this looks better when viewed in a larger size.
  • Day 52 - Typical activity along the Amazon Riverfront near Iquitos, Peru; the Amazon is literally the only way in and out of Iquitos, except by air; traffic on the river is heavy, although not crowded.
  • Day 49 - Parts of a motorcycle, with quite a bit of post processing in photoshop
  • A service repairman works on a Harley motorcycle - taken quite a while ago; always thought I'd use it for a daily but never got around to it.<br />

Really enjoyed looking through all the great shots on smugmug tonight. Is it my imagination or are there more and more shots that really capture the light. Seems like everyone is doing a super job with the light these days.
  • Day 48 - A close up of the wheel of a motorcycle
  • Day 47 - The front wheels of several Harley Davidson motorcycles. I spent some time at the local Colorado Springs Harley Davidson store taking a lot of photos of motorcycles. The other motorcycle photos are in my "Autos" gallery. This one has been heavily processed in Photoshop in my attempt to create a different sort of shot. Let me know what you all think of it.
  • Day 46 - Harley Davidson shock absorber
  • Day 50 - The Sunday morning parade on the square in Iquitos, Peru
  • Day 45 - It is a cold snowy day and I want to try some things indoors later, but I thought I would post this poster I created from a number of my shots of mushrooms taken at Monarch Campground in Colorado. The campground is very near Monarch Pass and we were there two years ago in July after a lot of rains. The variety of mushrooms in the vicinity was amazing! My mushroom gallery (under "Nature") has more shots of the incredible mushrooms we saw there. I have some big mushroom books but was unable to identify the majority of the ones I photographed. If any of you know what they are, I'd love to know. Because this is a big composite, it does look better viewed in a larger size.
  • Day 44 - An interesting mushroom captured at Monarch Campground in Colorado. We're still on the road but I have access to wifi tonight, so I'll post this as my daily even though it is already very late in the day. Hope everyone is doing well. I've been looking at the dailies today and what a great bunch of shots they are! We'll be home in about four days and I'll get back to regular posting and commenting.
  • Day 42 - A couple of oldiies but goodies enjoying a hot time in the old town tonight. My husband and I playing a game of Clue. I set up the shot, set the timer and ran to my stool to get into the shot.
  • Day 41 - Grandpapa and Spencer enjoying a moment on Christmas morning. The image has been manipulated extensively in Photoshop to create an effect like a fine art silkscreen print. Many different effects have been applied, including numerous filters and blending modes.
  • Day 39 - I asked my granddaughter to pose for me with this piece of torn paper. I didn't get the exact thing I was looking for, but I kind of like this one.
  • Day 40 - We'd had a big snowfall overnight and I was out early in the morning taking photos; as the sun rose, huge clumps of snow would fall off the tree branches; I managed to capture this one as it fell.
