Day 107 - One of the many small waterfalls on Havasum Creek in the bottom of the Grand Canyon; the detail in this image is best viewed in a larger size. Havasu Creek is arguably one of the most beautiful places in the world and is part of the Havasu Indian Reservation. A major flood took place a month or so after we rafted the Colorado last summer and took out lots of trees and moved lots of boulders around. The water is so intensely blue-green because of the presence of travertine. When you raft the Colorado with a larger group, you get to visit sites like this mainly in the mid-day. The light on the day we were there was incredibly bright, actually making it difficult to capture images as faithfully. Thought you might enjoy seeing this in the doldrums of winter that we are having. Have a great day!
