8/10/12 - Bald Eagle; I watched this bald eagle for about an hour and a half, during which it did very little. About in the middle of that time, it called out about four times. Finally, as I was about to give up, the eagle finally flew off and made several passes up the Wind River, although it did not catch anything. I got some flying shots, but I don't think they are as good as this shot. I was so excited to get this close to the eagle; I've only seen one other and that was from 1/4 mile. This time I was just across the river from him/her. It was in the sun and very hot; by the end of the hour and a half, I was trembling from hunching over the tripod for so long.
We've been traveling back to Colorado Springs for several days and have been without 'Net access. We'll be here for a month while we have some more repairs made to our RV. We've been out for six weeks and we've had a great time in South Dakota and then in the Dubois, Wyoming area. I have to admit I am stressed the entire time we are actually driving the big kahuna down the highways, but, otherwise, we've had a great time. Adjusting to living in an RV has not been difficult for us. It is rather like living in a luxury hotel suite. I've cooked almost all our meals on either our little stovetop, the convection oven, or the portable grill. Wyoming is a beautiful state; there is a lot more irrigation than I'd expected, so much of it is quite green.
I gather that I missed a discussion about whether or not folks wished to receive constructive criticism. As one of my main reasons for joining the dailies has been to improve my skills and my photographs, I always welcome constructive criticism. Any suggestions for ways to iimprove are most welcome!
Thanks, as always, for your comments on my shots. It is good to be back!
