I don't know the name of this flower of intense indigo blue. I photographed them at the Desert Botanic Garden near Scottsdale. They don't grow more than a foot high. If anyone knows the name, please let me know. Be sure to look at this one in the larger sizes, as the detail really pops. Judith Sparhawk has identified these as Desert Canterbury Bells (Phacelia Campanularia). thanks, Judith!
No one solved yesterday's riddle, which was "All that glitters is not gold." Here is another: "Neophyte's serendipity."
We visited the Denver Botanic Garden this afternoon and I think I'll have some nice shots when I get them processed. However, I am simply too tired right now to think about it and am going to bed. Hopefully, I'll get up at some point and post this photo. Enjoy your weekend!

on June 1, 2010Hi--I know these flowers from the Anza-Borrego desert in Southern California, part of the Mojave Desert, as Desert Canterbury Bells (Phacelia Campanularia). I don't know if you have a variation in Arizona, but these look just like the ones here. Beautiful, aren't they? --Judith
