1. Daily shots for the dailies forum on Dgrin

Dailies

These images are ones shot to post in the daily community on smugmug. I've been participating in this community for about twelve years. For the first few years, I tried to always post a shot taken either that day or the day before. Now, although I try to shoot everyday, I don't necessarily post the images on the same day they are shot.

  • Day 90 - The late afternoon sun highlights the clouds over the front range and Pike's Peak in Colorado Springs. This image is better viewed in a larger size. Have a great Wednesday, everyone! Thanks so much on your comments on Spencer's jumping pic, as well as all the ones on the scene outside Victor. I really appreciate each and every one!
  • Day 87 - A close up of an unusual huge goose on a pond; this image is best viewed in a larger size; I don't know what kind of goose this is, so those of you who are more familiar with geese can, perhaps, tell me the species. I took this photo a couple of weeks ago but just got it processed. Thanks to everyone for their nice comments on my photo yesterday and all the kind wishes for success with the epidural cortisone shot. I have to say it was not nearly as bad as I had anticipated...really, it did not hurt and took only a few minutes for the whole procedure. It may take up to a week for the cortisone to take effect but I think I am a bit better today, so I'm very hopeful that this will fix my problem. Have a great day, everyone!
  • Day 84 - The sunset from my deck early in January, 2009.
  • Day 86 - Antique lights in the old courthouse --- now the Pioneer Museum --- in Colorado Springs, Colorado
  • Day 85 - Spencer sitting at the bar reading his new book about football. He's engrossed!
  • Day 83 - One of the small waterfalls at Victoria Vaille Falls
  • Day 82 - Reflections of clouds in an office building
  • Day 81 - Chinese cabbage shot with a high-key effect. I'm thinking of entering this one in the current Dgrin challenge. Do you think it is worthy. Please critique.
  • Day 70 - The afternoon sun shines through the leaves on a maple tree in Zion National Park in Utah. It is cold, windy and dreary here and I've been running errands all day, so I'm posting this shot from my Zion National Park gallery (under landscapes). The sun shining through the leaves of the maple makes me long for spring.
  • Day 69 - This version of my self-portrait was taken with the backup D80. I used an infrared wireless remote called the ML-L3. Had to call Nikon to figure out how to activate the remote. The manual doesn't tell you. I experimented with a frames plug-in and then faded that layer in blending modes to get an effect I liked a bit better. Note I have my glasses on in this shot; I usually wear them but when I was using the D300 I kept getting an annoying glare and since my LCD screen was not working, it was simply easier to take them off.
  • Day 68 - I have never really tried self-portraits before, so this is my first serious effort. Unfortunately, it coincided with my D300 LCD going black and some problems with the D300 focusing. I called Nikon and I'm going to have to send the camera in for servicing. I would take a picture or two and then load the card into my laptop so that I could see what I took. Reminds me of the old days of film when you never knew what you got until it was developed. Pretty laborious. I'll probably experiment a bit more with this with my D80, which I use as a backup, which means that I've never really used it at all. My husband normally uses it as his camera. I'm lucky, though, to have a backup at all.
  • Day 62 - Shot of my daughter, Heather, as she concentrates on the football game on New Year's Day.
  • Day 63 - Our nine year old cockapoo, Buckwheat, had knee surgery almost eight weeks ago. He wasn't using his leg, so we have been taking him to physical therapy, where he has to walk on a water treadmill. He's a little trooper but he's not happy on the treadmill. Not a great shot because I was shooting through a rather dirty and somewhat opaque plastic of the treadmill. However, I thought Buckwheat conveys his feeling that "I'll do this but only because there is no way out!"
  • Day 64 - Almost sunset and the light highlights the grasses and weed and seedheads at Castlewood State Park in Colorado. I think this image needs to be viewed in a larger size to see the detail in the grasses and weeds.
  • Day 65 - As I was preparing to shoot the sunset at Castlewood State Park, a couple walked into my line of sight and I snapped this shot! I like the glow around their bodies from the setting sun.
  • Day 66 - I decided to run out to Castlewood State Park, which is about 20 miles from my home. Got there only about 45 minutes before sunset. I took quite a few shots but I think this is the best of the bunch. Interested in what you all think!
  • Day 105 - coins falling through the air are truly "loose change"
  • Day 104 - Cents of Falling - coins falling through the air are truly loose change. This image is best viewed in larger size.
  • Day 60 - Several leaves that have dropped off a house plant...in various stages of dessication...on a black galaxy granite countertop.
