Dailies

These images are ones shot to post in the daily community on smugmug. I've been participating in this community for about twelve years. For the first few years, I tried to always post a shot taken either that day or the day before. Now, although I try to shoot everyday, I don't necessarily post the images on the same day they are shot.

Cormorant with a fish - the comorant has beaten this fish against the ground and, as you can see, the fish is covered with dirt and sticks. I liked the incredible teal eye and the wild look of the cormorant in this shot. Best viewed in the larger sizes.
Thanks for all the comments on my shot at the mall. You guys are the best and you continue to amaze and delight me with the shots you put up. Today was no exception!

 • Great white egret at Corkscrew Sanctuary in Florida; best viewed in the largest sizes. As I was reprocessing the Everglades pics, I found this one that I had not even processed and it is actually one of my favorites, I think. I like the detail and position of the egret, but also the detail of the tree roots.

Thanks so much for your nice comments on my shot of the tri-colored heron. I treasure every one!

Have a good week!
 • Great white egret in breeding plumage in Corkscrew Sanctuary in Florida; best viewed in the largest sizes. I like this one because it really shows the detail of the breeding plumage.

I sure appreciated the warm response to my shot of the juvenile white ibis. Reading the comments made my day so much better.

Have a great day! It is cold here!
 • Wood stork at Corkscrew Sanctuary in Florida; best viewed in the largest size. Vandana's photo of the woodstork reminded me of this reprocessed Everglades shot and I liked the reflection and the patterns in the water, so thought I'd use it for my daily today.

Thanks so much for your encouragement on my shot of the sunset reflection in the windows.

Enjoy your day! We're supposed to get a bit of snow.
 • Llama; best viewed in the largest size. I got this shot on the day we went to see the fall leaves. On the way back from Cripple Creek, we always pass a llama farm. Lots of the llamas were near the fence this time and I got a few shots. I love this fella's sweet face. He was quite curious about me and came up to see me.

Thanks for the comments on my shot of the egret. You folks are making me feel really good about taking the time to reprocess the Everglades shots.

Have a great day!
 • Aspen in autumn in Colorado; best viewed in the largest sizes. I like the variety of colors in this photo and the detail of the leaves you can see in the largest sizes.

Thanks for your comments on my other shot of autumn color in Colorado. Another winter storm is coming through tonight. Doesn't sound like we'll get too much snow but there will be very strong winds.

Hope you are enjoying better weather and that the folks without power in the east get it back today!
 • Aspen in autumn in Colorado along the road to Cripple Creek; best viewed in the largest sizes.

I sure appreciated your comments on my shot of the corn in the corn maze. Thanks a bunch for taking the time!

It is supposed to be another gorgeous Indian summer day today, but tomorrow the high will be around 30 degrees with snow. So, I'm planning to enjoy the good weather while it lasts. Hope you can do the same!
 • Please view in the largest size to see the incredible detail in these soft looking seedheads.

Thanks for taking the time to comment on my most recent shot of the aspen.

We are off early this morning to drive our son-in-law to Denver during the height of a winter snowstorm that may drop as much as ten inches on us. We are allowing 3 hours for what is usually a one hour trip.

Hope your day is good!
 • Not far from Divide, Colorado on the road to Cripple Creek in the autumn. The aspens were as brilliant as I'd ever seen them. Best viewed in the larger sizes

Thanks for the comments on my shot of the raindrops on the hollyhock. Much appreciated. Sure loved all your shots today! You guys sure know how to keep me motivated.
 • Red-shouldered hawk at Corkscrew Sanctuary in Florida; best viewed in the largest size; this was taken from, perhaps, 1/4 mile away so has been pretty severely cropped.

Thanks to those who commented on my latest window reflection shot; much appreciated.

Hope your weekend was a fine one!
 • A tri-colored heron in the Everglades; be sure to view in the largest sizes to see the incredible feather detail.

Thanks so much for the comments on my aspen shot; I'm still processing the rest of them, but I hope to have more to share. Hope you are enjoying the weekend!
 • On our outing yesterday to allow my granddaughter, Quinn, to pick out some clothes for her birthday, she and my daughter decided to try on some outlandish shoes at Nordstrom's to end the day. Surprisingly, the shoes looked much better on than we'd thought they would. I took the photos just to give her dad fits, but decided they do kind of make a statement about how she's growing up.

Thanks so much for the nice comments on my shot of the anhinga. They are incredibly beautiful birds and a bit odd-looking at the same time. Hope your week is off to a good start! Have a great day!
 • Inside the mall. Best viewed in the largest sizes

I appreciated all the comments on the shots of Quinn in the high heels. I did not try any of them on, as it has been so long since I've had heels on I didn't think I'd be able to stand up in them.

We took a little drive up to Cripple Creek to see the aspens and the fall color was glorious. Hope to have a few shots to share a bit later. Hope you all have a good day!
 • Reflections of the sky in an office building; best viewed in the largest sizes

Thanks for the comments on my shot of the balloon festival. Our snow did not materialize...the storm went south of us. Have a good day!
 • I took this a month or so ago and always intended to use it as a daily and just never got around to it. It was shot from a stair inside an office building and I liked the lines and diagonals, as well as some reflections. I find glass of all types endlessly fascinating.

Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving. If you are shopping today, I hope you get some bargains! I'm staying home!
 • Sunset and a glass of wine. I was waiting for the sunset, which has been nice the last couple of days and when the color began to become vivid, I took out this glass of wine and set it on the deck railing.

Thanks for your comments on my black-crowned night heron shot. Hope your weekend is going well. I'm taking my granddaughter shopping. We go every year on her birthday to let her pick her own clothes. My two daughters are going along this year, so it will be an all-girls' day out!
 • Great blue heron; best viewed in the largest size - another of the reprocessed Everglades shots. I have to admit I find these birds to be endlessly fascinating.

Thank you for all the comments on my shot of the red autumn leaves. There were quite a number of autumn leaf shots on smugmug today...amazing how many different interpretations of this similar theme there can be!

Have a good day!
 • Great blue heron; best viewed in the largest size to see the feather detail and the details of the water drops off the bird's foot.

I appreciated the comments on my shot of the autumn gambel oak leaves. Thanks for taking the time.

Have a terrific Sunday!
 • Cormorant with a fish - the comorant has beaten this fish against the ground and, as you can see, the fish is covered with dirt and sticks. I liked the incredible teal eye and the wild look of the cormorant in this shot. Best viewed in the larger sizes.
• Black-crowned night heron; best viewed in the largest size. Still reprocessing all these Everglades shots.

Thanks for the nice comments on my shot of the little green heron. They are such interesting birds!

Have a good weekend and take some fine shots!
 • An anhinga drying its wings in the Everglades; best viewed in the largest size. I think what I like most about this shot is the way the vivid blue water balances the bird and bank area of the image.

I sure appreciated the comments on my shot of the wine glass and the sunset. I had a great day with my daughter and granddaughter, but did not get home in time to do too much commenting.
