As we were driving home from dinner out last evening, the sun suddenly broke through some holes in the clouds and created this scene. I hopped out of the car and quickly captured a few shots. This is one of them. I'm glad so many of you like the shot of the two hummers. Thanks for taking the time to comment. I sure enjoyed all your shots today...lots of wonderful images.
These three baby marmots are surveying their domain. I had been watching and photographing the marmots for about an hour and they seemed quite comfortable and able to ignore me completely. When I first arrived, an adult marmot issued a warning alert for quite a bit. The warning is a very high pitched and penetrating squeaking sound. The main marmot colony is located in a lot of large boulders that were dumped near the bridge to support the soil along the roadbed. But, they have expanded beyond that into the meadow below, where there are marmot tunnels every few feet. The colony is quite close to the Arapaho Bay campground where we were camped. This is near Granby Lake in Colorado. I had never seen a marmot in real life before and I found them quite interesting. View the detail on the three baby marmots in the largest sizes. Golly, I'm amazed by the response to my daily yesterday of the sun shining through holes in the clouds. A number of you indicated that you, too, are constantly jumping out of your cars to take photos. I was just really lucky to be out and about so that I saw those rays as they came through the clouds. Thanks, folks, for taking the time to comment on the shot.
Spider - While eating lunch at a MacDonald's, my grandson spotted this spider outside the window. I hustled back to the car and grabbed my camera and macro lens and took quite a few shots. This is the best of the bunch. We had a wonderful 4th and hope everyone else did, too, and that you enjoy the rest of the weekend.
Pink poppies with the light shining through the petals. View the very nice detail on this shot in the largest sizes. Thanks for all the comments on my psychedelic fish. It was a fun one to process. The week is flying by. Hope everyone has a good day!
A violet green swallow. View the detail of this swallow in the largest sizes. These little birds are very difficult to capture, as they rarely perch like this. They are almost always on the wing and move extremely rapidly. They had nests made of mud that were located under the ledge of a nearby bridge. I staked the area out for a long time and took many photos, but few were very sharp. This is one of the best. Thanks for all the nice remarks on my hairy spider. Unfortunately, I haven't figured out is specific species. Happy Mondy, everyone, and welcome back to Dave Dedman!
Woman painting with watercolors at the Denver Botanical Garden. Thanks for all your kind comments on my swallow picture. Have a great day!
Flamenco Dancer and Musician - this lady was entertaining folks at the Cherry Creek Art Festival on July 4th. The guitarist really seemed to be enjoying the performance, but the little girl to the right seems bored (she might be the daughter of one or both of the performers, I'm guessing). We've had storms here all day and I spent most of my time processing images from a photoshoot with three small children, so did not even get my camera out. I'm sure some of those shots will make their way to my dailies --- once I finally get them all done. Seems like the entire country is having serious weather of some sort. Have a good day! Pearl's Lisa is having her surgery today and I know all of us are hoping it is a success.
These goodies were being sold at the recent Cherry Creek Art Festival. They are simply fabulous. They consist of three strawberries and two pieces of banana on a stick. Each of the fruits has been drizzled with white and dark chocolate. When you bit into a piece, it is crunchy on the outside and then the consistency of the fruit inside. I'm going to try to figure out how to get the chocolate onto the fruit that way because they are scrumptious! Thanks for all the comments on the flamenco dancer pic. My hubby and I are taking my daughter and grandson to the zoo today. Should be lots of photo ops. Have a good day, everyone!
Just gotta stay hydrated... Photographed on the street at the Cherry Creek Arts Festival.
