2/1/13 - Another shot with selective color.. There was not a lot of color in the shot, other than the lime, to begin with, so I thought it might work well with sc. I liked the shadow of the glass with the lime. Unfortunately, when I processed this shot, due to my computer problems, I was using my laptop, which no longer has my plugin software. I would have liked to use Silver EFEX to do the b/w conversion but just used the tools in Photoshop instead.

Thanks for all you support on my shot of the water drops. Much appreciated!
1/31/13 - Water drops on the lemon tree after the rain

Thanks for your comments on my shot of the stainless steel pitchers. You folks are always so encouraging and keep me motivated to improve my photography skills.
1/30/13 - Reflections in stainless steel pitchers. I'm always atrracted to reflections, but, in addition, I particularly liked the repetition of the shapes in this image.

Thanks for your comments about the fruit display at the supermarket. Much appreciated!
1/29/13 - Fruit display in AJ's Supermarket in Tucson. I liked the way the display has a little curve and, I think, pulls your eye into the shot.

Thanks so much for making my sc shot of the pitcher and oranges the #1 shot for the day! Most of you preferred the sc image, but quite a few of you liked the color shot better. Tatiana asked why I had rotated the image. Actually, I didn't; I deliberately angled the camera to capture the pitcher at that angle.
1/28/13 - A bit of sc! I'm not sure if I like this as well as the original color shot, which can be seen here. What do you all think? http://fotoeffects.smugmug.com/Still-Life/Glass/15374383_SSsnb4#!i=2335151852&k=4HwWWrK

Thanks so much for making my shot of the anthurium the #1 shot for the day. Quite a surprise, but it certainly made my day! I've been trying to get a decent shot of anthurium for years; I never get the kind of dof I'd like. I'm glad you all liked this one, though.
1/27/13 - Anthurium, photographed in very low light inside AJ's supermarket in Tucson. A number of your have asked how I manage to take so many shots inside businesses. I always carry my camera with me and it is quite noticeable. I try to take my shots quickly. I generally don't ask for permission, unless I am questioned. Then, I say I am a photographer and always on the lookout for neat photo ops. Only once have I been asked not to photograph. I don't ever use flash inside shops. I often, truthfully, say things like, "I really like photographing glass, bottles, produce, etc."

Thanks for your supportive comments on my shot of the glass decanters. I appreciate the time it takes to comment.
1/26/13 - Glass decanters; shot at either Crate and Barrel or Pottery Barn...I can't remember which.

Thanks so much for your comments on the exotic dragon fruit in the grocery store. I really appreciate your taking the time to post a comment.
1/25/13 - Shot in AJ's Supermarket in the La Encatada Mall in Tucson. It is rare to find a grocery store that is a real treat just to browse through, but AJ's definitely fits that bill. Several of you have identified this fruit as dragon fruit....hooray for smart smuggers!

Thanks for your warm response to my shot of the apples in the basket tray. You guys are the most supportive community! Hope it warms up a bit for those of you experiencing the terrific cold! We actually got some rain today and are expecting more in the coming days.
1/24/13 - Apples in a Basket, selective color applied. I took this shot last week, thinking I might use it as my entry in the dgrin challenge that closed on Monday (selective color), but because of my computer problems, I was unable to get it processed in time to use it as my entry. The basket was sitting on a bottom shelf of an open cabinet with light from a window falling across the fruit. I liked the light and I always find something rather compelling about shots of apples.

Thanks for your comments on my shot of the boy studying the painting at the Fine Arts Center. I believe the painting is by an artist named Pletka but, unfortunately, I do not remember the name of the painting. I may even have the artist's name wrong.

Have a great day!
