3/19/13 - Old locomotive at Old Town Tucson.

Thanks so muich for your warm response, making my shot of the Presidio arches the #1 shot for the day. A few more of you preferred the color version, but quite a few thought the b/w version was better. Thanks for sharing your opinions with me!
3/18/13 - Presidio, downtown Tucson. I had a difficult time trying to decide whether to post this color version of the b/w version, which is here: http://fotoeffects.smugmug.com/Architecture/Architecture/6687364_RnCDW7#!i=2376652337&k=bL28Qjh. Which would you have chosen?

Thanks for your comments on my green seed pod. Hope everyone had a good St. Patrick's Day.
3/17/13 - I had a bit of trouble finding something green for St. Patrick's Day. I liked the detail of this interesting seed pod that I photographed in Moab. Happy St. Patrick's Day, everyone!

Thank you all for making my shot of St. Augustine's in Tucson the #1 shot for the day. Like many of you, I've found that lots of images don't lend themselves to processing in Simplify. It certainly can be just the ticket for some images, though, and I really enjoy trying it out on different shots.
3/16/13 - St. Augustine's, Tucson. I processed this using Topaz Simplify and liked the rather silkscreen-like effect.

Thanks for your comments on my shot of the shadows in Old Town Tucson. Much appreciated!
3/15/13 - Another shot taken at Old Town Tucson. I loved the shadows, but also liked the whole setup here. Seemed like it was made for photographers. I decided to post the color version, rather than the b/w version, which can be seen here: http://fotoeffects.smugmug.com/Other/Odds-and-Ends/7032233_dn3zKD#!i=2399815932&k=JvhZBfp. I thought of doing a b/w version with sc on the sunflowers but decided they were to small to have the impact I'd want.

Thank you all so much for making my sc version of the wash on the line the #1` shot for the day. Sure made my day! I appreciate your support.
3/14/13 - I've been wanting to get a shot of laundry on a line for ages, so was thrilled to see this in Old Town Tucson Studios. I decided selective color might be worth trying on the shot. What do you think?

I do appreciate your warm response to my most recent hummingbird post. Thanks for taking the time to comment!
3/13/13 - Hummingbird, photographed at the Arizona Sonoran Desert Museum. Many of you mentioned in your comments yesterday that you rarely saw hummers at rest. Actually, they do spend a lot of time sitting. This little guy's tongue is out a bit.

Thanks so much for making my shot of the hummer on the nest the #1 shot for the day. Took me totally by surprise. I've been lucky enough to photograph three hummer nests. All were quite low in trees or shrubs. However, each one that I've photographed was in Arizona...two at the Phoenix Botanic Garden and the other at the Arizona Sonoran Desert Museum. Although we had lots of hummers around our home in Colorado Springs, I never managed to spot a hummer's nest there. I did spot something quite unusual here in the Bastrop, Tx yesterday. Several smallish trees around a gas station had many nests in each tree. One must have had 15 - 20 nests in it, all quite close together. I think they may be the nests of some type of grackle, common cowbirds or bronzed cowbirds. I've seen very large flocks of the birds everywhere around here. Do any of you know of this kind of nesting behavior. I'd guess the nest are no more than a foot away from one another. There were several of these small trees by the service station and each one had many nests in it.

Thanks for your warm response to my shot of the horse today! I really enjoyed perusing your comments! Have a great day!
3/11/13 - Horse at Old Town tucson Studios

Thanks so much for making my shot inside the liquor store the #1 shot for the day the day before! What a thrill to see my shot in that spot! I did not get to post yesterday due to no 'Net access, so I am tardy in my thanks to you!
