2/3/13 - Reflections at Metal Village, a small complex of individual metal artist's studios. In Tucson.

Thanks for your comments on my shot of the Airstream reflections. Thanks also to those of you who commented on one of my shots of a cormorant taken several years ago. Not sure what caused all the commenting on that one!

We're taking off tomorrow morning in the RV for Texas. We'll take three days to get there and I won't have a chance to post or comment during that time. See you soon!
3/2/13 - Sunset and a campfire are reflected in a vintage Airstream trailer; look at the front tanks in the largest sizes to see the entire sky reflected.

I've been unable to post or comment for a couple of days due to no 'net access. Thanks so much to everyone who commented on my hummer shot the other day!
2/26/13 - Hummingbird, captured at the Arizona-Sonoran Desert Museum's hummingbird house. Often, the hummers are in shaded conditions and there is not room to take tripods inside, so I had to shoot handheld....something I'd rather not do with hummingbirds. They always move really quickly, but the hummers in this house seemed to be traveling at light speed most of the time. I was handholding my Nikon D800E with the 70 - 200mm lens, which is quite heavy and it was at the end of an afternoon of shooting with it, so I was pretty tired. In spite of the difficult shooting conditions, I wanted to try to get some there simply because there are SO MANY HUMMERS IN ONE SMALL PLACE! I stood for about twenty minutes watching these flowers before this hummer finally came to them. We're taking the RV in for service today, so I probably won't have a chance to comment or post tomorrow. Hopefully, it will just be for a day or two.

Thanks for your comments on my shot of the vintage car at the Forney Transpotation Museum! Much appreciated!
2/25/13 - One of the many automobiles, trains and other vehicles on display at the Forney Transportation Museum in Denver....well worth a trip!

I posted really late on Sunday, so I don't think many of you saw my submission for the Black History Month challenge. If you have a bit of extra time, give it a looksee here. http://fotoeffects.smugmug.com/Daily-shots-for-the-dailies/Dailies/6928550_9gMRmv#!i=2380716164&k=kdQ5FTG. I really enjoyed seeing all the images submitted for indigo's challenge! You folks showed a lot of creativity!
2/24/13 - My submission for the Black History Month Challenge by indigo. I've been saving this for this day. Floyd D. Tunson paintings, part of an exhibition of his work at the Colorado Springs Fine Arts Center. Tunson is a major American black artist. One thing he said that really struck me was that, for him, the subject of his paintings were not nearly as important as the visual aspects of the image. His work was amazingly versatile, ranging from drawings, to paintings, to sculpture.

Thanks for your comments on my shot of a little bar in the Fine Arts Center.
2/23/13 - Colorado Springs Fine Arts Center, Chihuly glas sculpture; I've been processing this file of images since the first week of January and just finished them. They are still uploading. I loved the light in this one, the Chihuly chandelier and the fact that I was able to get a decent exposure on both the inside and outside of the room. I think it is really better viewed in the largest sizes.

Thanks for all your comments on my shot of the old depot in Tucson. I appreciate every one who takes the time to comment.
2/22/13 - Old train depot, Tucson. I also did a b/w version of this one, which can be seen here: http://fotoeffects.smugmug.com/Other/Odds-and-Ends/7032233_dn3zKD#!i=2376686224&k=mrCwc28. I thought the color in the scene outside the hallway showed up better in the color. What is your opinion?

Thanks for all your comments on my shot of the sheriff in Old Town Tucson. I do appreciate your taking the time to comment!
2/21/13 - Another Old Town Tucson shot; I don't suppose they had sunglasses in the Wild West, but I liked this guy's attitude. He jjust stood there and posed for us.

Thank you for your warm response to my shot of the Old West bedroom. You guys are the best! Speaking of which, there were, as always, an amazing bunch of shots to peruse on smugmug today! Keep up the good work!

It snowed in Tucson today. It only lasted about an hour but it came down thick and fast for a while. I grabbed a couple of shots, as they are likely to be the only snow shots I get this year.
2/20/13 - Bedroom in one of the houses in Old Town Tucson Studios. I liked the natural light. The room was quite dark but by bumping the exposure comp up and slowing the shutter speed down, I was able to hand hold the camera and get an image that had virtually no noise.

Thanks for your comments on the image of the fist fight. Much appreciated.
