11/26/12 - Some type of burr, shot earlier in the summer but just rediscovered and uploaded.

Thanks to those of you who commented on my shot of the backlit tree and grasses!
11/25/12 - Taken while we were in Moab, in the parking lot at the grocery store, this is not a kind of composition that I generally like. However, I loved the way the light was striking some of the leaves on the tree, as well as the grasses. I was pleased with the depth of field that I achieved here.

Thanks very much for your comments on my shot of the barrel racer. Much appreciated.

Hope you are having a nice holiday weekend and, if you are shopping, I hope you are finding what you seek.
11/24/12 - Barrel Racer; I took this shot while we were in Moab. Phil and I were the almost the only spectators, other than members of the riders' families. I was only allowed to stand in one place. My flash wasn't strong enough to penetrate too far into the dark arena space. This image is certainly not up to the caliber of Gene's or Andrea's shots, but I like the dirt thrown up by the hooves (I was constantly getting hit in the face by dirt clods) and the way the rider's hair is flowing behind her.

Thanks for your support on my shot of the rider exercising his horse. I do appreciate all of them.

Constructive criticism is always welcome.
11/23/12 - Horse and rider; best viewed in the largest size. Next to the RV park in Moab was a fairly large facility where riders came to exercise their horses. Everytime I would see some of them riding by, I'd dash out to try to get photos. However, there were two fences between me and the riders and I found it to be nearly impossible to get a decent shot. However, one evening, I caught this one at just the right spot to avoid the fences. I liked the red color of the shirt and the horses mane blowing in the wind.

Thanks for your comments on my shot of the plaster figure from the mission. Much appreciated.

11/22/12 - This is a plaster figure that was inside a glass display case at the San Xavier Mission. The case had reflections from the lights in the ceiling. My goal with this shot was to try to take one that I could make look ALMOST like a live person. In addition to the reflections, the low light was challenging. How did I do? You folks are the ultimate judges.

Hope everyone is having a wonderful Thanksgiving! This is the first time that we've been away from our children and grandchildren at a holiday in many, many years. Seems pretty strange. We tried to volunteer to serve food at one of several places in Tucson that feed the needy, but were told that they already had more volunteers than they could use. It is good to know that so many people are generous with their time during holidays like this one. Looks like we'll be here at Christmas, too, so, perhaps, we'll be able to volunteer at one of the kitchens then. We learned that not too many restaurants are open on Thanksgiving, so we decided to fix our own meal in the RV. As a result, we'll be having a rather untraditional meal featuring stuffed salmon. A turkey would have been really impractical in my little kitchen.

Have a great day!

11/21/12 - We see these flowers blooming on shrubs all around Tucson. Does anyone know what they are? Leah says they are called Pride of Barbados. They root wherever the seeds fall; the seed pods look like lima bean pods. Thanks, Leah!

Thanks for your support for my shot of the orange with the water drops. I appreciate every comment and suggestion.

11/19/12 - Orange on the tree outside our motorhome in Tucson. We are staying at an RV park that had once been an orchard and there are orange, grapefruit and lemon trees everywhere. We can pick fruit from any tree we want. We tried one of the oranges from this tree but it was still a bit too tart to be fully ripe.

Thanks for your comments on my layered desert landscape. I really enjoyed all of your shots today. Smugmuggers never disappoint!

11/18/12 - View from the Arizona-Sonoran Desert Museum; I liked the layers. The clouds in the mid-range are dust clouds from activity out there.

Thank you for commenting on my shot of the deer. I do appreciate every one.

11/17/12 - Deer at the Arizona-Sonoran Desert Museum; I liked the way the light was striking this deer's head. She was kind enough to hold quite still for me.

Thanks for your comments on my shot of autumn in Canyonlands. Much appreciated...every one of them! I know how much time it takes to comment.
